I DON’T THINK THEY CAN BOOK A BABY
By The Movie Guy on May 30, 2014
Format: DVD
This is delightful comedy that centers around stressed out super-mom Allyson (Sarah Drew). She conspires with two other stressed out mom’s to have a “mom’s night out” and to let Sean (Sean Astin) mind the kids along with his single buddy friend Kevin (Kevin Downes). The other two members of the threesome include Sondra (Patricia Heaton), the preacher’s wife and Izzy (Faith based film cutie Logan White).

We discover that the ability to walk in heels is not like riding a bike. Both the women and the men are out of their element leading to an over-the-top comic adventure. While the situation approaches unrealistic, the one liners had me in stitches. The plot is cliche and formulaic, but works with the characters and on screen chemistry.

The film has a faith based message and utilizes stars that have been strictly in faith based films. With the help of a few headliners to carry the film, plus a decent script that wasn’t bogged down with a faith message, this film was delightful, even to this old atheist cynic.

Trace Adkins played a philosophical biker who tells Allyson and us, after a night of hell, what she apparently needed to know to enjoy life.

Refreshing, uplifting, hilarious!

I am not sure I have ever preordered a DVD, particularly before a release date has been set but I plan to order this one. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this movie but I enjoyed every minute. If you have ever parented young children you will relate to the humor and if you have ever been a Stay at home mom then you will love it. This is a movie with a faith based message that doesn’t sacrifice humor in the mix. It is completely clean but not straightlaced. I went home with a light heart, and renewed energy to take back to my family, Thank you to the producer, director, entire case for making a movie like this, it was desperately needed.

God’s Not Dead

gods not dead 51ddRA2boQL__AA160_

It’s the debate of the ages, this time in a college classroom, and the verdict will be life changing. Atheist philosophy instructor Prof. Radisson opens the first day of class by proposing that, in order to forgo “dusty arguments” and failing grades, students may hand in a piece of paper declaring that “God Is Dead”. Josh Wheaton, a Christian is unable to bring himself to make such a declaration and must defend his faith to prove to the class that God is not dead after all.

Excellent Study – Every Christian Needs to See October 16, 2011
By C. Long
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified PurchaseOne of the best Christian t.v./movie type things I’ve ever seen! The spiritual value in this product is too high for me to even try and quantify. “Baby” Christians as well as mature ones will find value here. This can literally be a “life changing” product – and I don’t say that lightly at all. An EXCELLENT study either for church groups or individuals.

There are 6 episodes that are each 30 minutes long (give or take). The 6 episodes weave together a very interesting story that will draw you in immediately, and when you reach the end of 1 episode you will find yourself WANTING to see the next one to find out more.

Although the cost of this is expensive (at least $50 at this writing) and after ordering I wondered if I would regret it, I found it worth every penny and actually much more! However, from a practical perspective, it really bothers me that the creators would price it so high, as that fact alone, by necessity, will GREATLY limit the amount of ministry potential that this excellent product has. I don’t know if the creators/Kyle Idleman realize that or not, but they need to. This is a series that all Christians should watch. But at such high prices, many that otherwise might, won’t due to the price – which is a real shame given the vital importance of the message which it was developed to bring.

Note: There is a Not a Fan “movie”, which is much less expensive – I have watched it also and while it is OK (it is missing approximately half the footage), I do not believe it is nearly as effective as the study.

Although this is billed as a “small groups study” that was developed for churches – and I believe it would be excellent when used that way – it can just as easily be viewed independently at home (that’s what I did). In fact, it might even be more effective that way. Personally, I watched one a day and after watching each one, I mentally went through the included guide & exercise book, both of which ask some good questions and had some worthwhile exercises that I found truly helpful to help reinforce what I watched. In general they were an excellent companion to the DVD. With that said, I do have one warning: Personally I believe a few of the “crazier” exercises that are suggested in the companion book are not only not wise to do, but can open doors to the enemy that shouldn’t be opened. The exercises that say things like “this may seem awkward to do, but do it anyway”, I believe you should be very careful with doing them – please make sure you are very sensitive to the Lord on those things – our words and actions matter a lot (far more than we often realize) and although the intended goal of those exercises is good, some of them I believe can actually, albeit in ignorance, possibly open doors to the enemy. For instance, one of the wilder exercises suggests creating an altar to things you might be enslaved such as alcohol and trying to worship at that altar. The goal of the exercise is noble – it is to have you realize how silly it is to actually worship something like alcohol. But I personally believe such actions are unwise, even in such a context.

All in all, this is an EXCELLENT show/study with a message that couldn’t be more timely for the Church right now. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Bible March 3, 2013
By Mario
Format:DVD
I was waiting for a network to “man up” and do a series on The Holy Bible and not just be politically correct and afraid to talk about God, and finally the History Channel made it possible. Discovery, National Geographic, AMC, etc. Did not want to take that risk. Let me say that it was a profitable risk. This series so far has been amazing and almost 100% accurate as The Bible. The battle scenes are well done but might be too graphic for young children. There is also some scenes of sensuality, but nothing compared to other shows on TV.The show begins with Noah and the Ark and then follows through with Abraham and his tribe. After that it moves on to Moses and the Israelites and how God freed them from slavery. I truly cannot wait to watch more episodes of this series and I as a believer recommend this to all people, believers and non-believers alike. It might save your life, it might save your soul. Overall an amazing interpretation of th Holy Book  Click Here to See More Reviews!

“Extremely well made, funny, heartwarming…” –Movieguide
About the Director
Dallas Jenkins produced the $2 million independent Hometown Legend at the age of 25, ultimately guiding it to Warner Brothers for distribution. Dallas made his directing debut with the short film Cliché, which FilmThreat.com called “Fast and funny…ingenious,” and his next short film, Midnight Clear, starring Stephen Baldwin, won a Crystal Heart Award from the Heartland Film Festival and was the opening night selection of the San Diego Film Festival.
In 2006, he was the Co-Executive Producer of Though None Go With Me, a movie based on his father’s book that aired on The Hallmark Channel. His feature directing debut, also called Midnight Clear, was based on his short film and was featured in over a dozen film festivals, including winning the Cinequest Film Festival award for “Best First Feature” and the “Audience Choice” award at the Kansas International Film Festival.

In 2009, Dallas directed his 2nd feature film, entitled What If… starring Kevin Sorbo, Kristy Swanson, John Ratzenberger, and Debby Ryan. The film hit theaters in Fall 2010. He recently accepted a position as Director of Visual Media at Harvest Bible Chapel in Chicago, where he’ll produce and direct multiple films starting in 2011.

Product Description
Fifteen years ago, Ben Walker (Kevin Sorbo) made a decision to leave his college sweetheart Wendy (Kristy Swanson), and ultimately his faith, in order to pursue a lucrative business opportunity. Now on the verge of marriage to an equally materialistic fiance, he is visited by an angelic mechanic (John Ratzenberger) who tells him that he needs to see what his life would have been like had he followed Gods calling. Suddenly, Ben finds himself married to Wendy with two daughters, including a rebellious teen (Debby Ryan), getting ready for church on a Sunday morning, where he’s scheduled to give his first sermon as the new pastor. If Ben wants to get back to his old life, he must first learn to appreciate the value of faith and family, and perhaps rediscover the love of his life. In the tradition of It’s a Wonderful Life and The Family Man, What If tells the story of a man whose glimpse into what he’s missing reminds him of what he truly wants.
What If received the “Dove Foundation’s Family Seal of Approval” with 5 out of 5 Doves and was also awarded the Parent’s Television Councils PTC seal of Approval™.

From Jerry Jenkins, the author of Left Behind. Named by Movieguide as one of the “Top Ten Family Movies of 2010.”

After two highly acclaimed albums Tenth Avenue North takes a bold creative leap forward on its new album, The Struggle. Inviting fans all over the country to lend their voices to the process as they recorded this album in cities along its tour route, the songs explore themes of forgiveness, redemption and grace. “We really fostered the dance of both the music and the lyric while thematically unpacking the idea of what it means to struggle,” says lead vocalist Mike Donehey. “We are free to struggle, but don’t need to struggle to be free. It’s about the permission to struggle but also a challenge not to stay there.” With The Struggle, the band offers up lyrically substantive songs people have come to expect from Tenth Avenue North.

Format:Audio CDI’ve been following TAN for a few years now. Their heart for worshipping Jesus and the authenticity of their lyrics that reveal their own brokenness, of which I can identify with, has drawn me to their music. Their songs often remind me of how I am in desperate need of Jesus.

I’ve seen this band grow musically and spiritually. “The Struggle” is a work of art that showcases the talents of the new band members, Rueben and Brendon, while keeping the signature sounds and in-depth lyrics that the band is known for.

Highlights: “Worn”, “Don’t Stop The Madness”, “You Do All Things Well”, “Where Life Will Never Die”

A Christian film about grace and forgiveness, The Grace Card tackles prejudice, loss, and grief. The death of a child 17 years ago filled Mac’s heart with anger and bigotry and crippled his relationship with his wife and youngest son. In his job as a policeman, he’s paired up with Sam, a black officer who’s also a part-time preacher and whom Mac dislikes intensely. Sam has also just received the promotion Mac thinks he deserved himself. The difficult partnership affects each man and his family in very different and significant ways. Sam struggles with the conflict between his desire as a minister to love and accept everyone, and his intense feelings of anger and even hate toward his fellow officer. That struggle almost turns him away from his calling as a preacher. A crisis on the job threatens to decimate what’s left of Mac’s family and brings the conflict between Mac and Sam to a climax. Just when the situation looks like it might destroy both men, a few well-chosen words and a seeming coincidence reveal that God has made Sam’s and Mac’s paths cross for a reason. What’s more, their interaction with one another causes both men to experience a personal and spiritual growth that neither could have anticipated. The expressions of bigotry in the film are hard to stomach, the sermonizing may be off-putting to some, and the events are sometimes quite predictable, but the portrayal of a city torn in half by racial prejudice is compelling and the message that forgiveness, rather than justice, offers the best solution is certainly worth considering. –Tami Horiuchi

4.0 out of 5 stars A Powerful Reminder February 27, 2011
By Sandra Carrington-smith
If you are attracted by high-tech special effects and big Hollywood names, The Grace Card might not be the movie for you, but if you are interested in watching a film that’s profound enough to impact your own life, you definitely cannot afford to miss this wonderful film.

The Grace Card is being released this weekend, Feb 25-27 across the nation, and I seriously hope many will find it in their hearts to go watch it. Why, you probably wonder? The reason is simple: Our society is deeply divided and wounded, and The Grace Card offers a different approach to stop the bleeding.

Mac McDonald loses his young son in a tragic accident, and his life spirals down from that moment on. As years pass, his relationship with his family becomes strained, and his bottled-up angry feelings wash into his attitude at work, slowing down his progression in his career as a law enforcement officer.
As a final straw, Mac is forced by his superior to pair up with Sam, an African-American pastor who took the job as a police officer to pay the bills, though his true dream is to create a self-sustaining, full-time ministry. There is little love lost between the two men, and their forced partnership triggers feelings neither of them are happy to face. They accept their shared task out of necessity, but even Sam struggles to understand why their paths intersected. When tragedy strikes, the design becomes suddenly clear, and both men discover that nothing happens by mistake. In a breathtaking turn of events, they both realize that Divine Grace was at work the whole time to bring healing not just in their individual lives but, as a reflection, to the collective of society.

The Grace Card is a fantastic document on forgiveness and a powerful reminder that each of us is but a tile in the tapestry of life. A message most of us desperately need to acknowledge.

DVD Release Date: March 13, 2012 | Language: English
An obscure passage in the Book of Isaiah describing the fall of ancient Israel has, since September 11, 2001, been eerily re-enacted in the United States exactly as it originally occurred in the time of the great prophet of Israel leading to the nation’s demise.

Jonathan Cahn, the author of The Harbinger, has been shocking audiences by revealing the astonishing parallels between the fall of ancient Israel and current events unfolding in the US, what he calls “an ancient mystery that holds the secret of America’s future and the collapse of the global economy.”

In this stunning new documentary The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment, Rabbi Cahn unravels the mystery behind this seemingly innocuous Biblical verse, and shows that ancient harbingers of judgment are now manifesting in America, just as they once did in Israel. This fascinating new DVD asks the question, “Is God sending America a prophetic message of what will soon be?” and RabbiCahn provides the answers through mounting evidence that the answer is ‘yes.’

5.0 out of 5 stars Pastors: Bring this to the attention of your flock! June 7, 2012
By K. Bridges
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified PurchaseA friend loaned us this video (which we are now purchasing for ourselves and our congregation.) As pastors of a small-town church we feel we are called as Watchmen. When the twin towers fell there were a few Evangelical Christians who spoke up and declared that this was God’s judgment on America but the populace as a whole rejected them and – in essence – forcem them to retract their statements. Many of them did out of fear for their livelihoods. Some of us did not … When this video was brought to our attention we KNEW it was from God. It is a warning – a stern warning – to America. Yes, we need to pray for our country and for our leaders, but it’s all to no avail unless we begin REPENTING as a nation! I read some of the 1-star reports here and just have to shake my head at how blind some of us are as Believers. Too many feel we are not called – ever – to suffer for the Gospel’s sake. (I have to wonder if they have ever really read Hebrews Chapter 11?) We need to WAKE UP AMERICA!

CHRISTIANITY: THE FIRST TWO THOUSAND YEARS is the most complete account of the history of Christianity, drawing on ancient texts, the Scriptures, commentary from renowned scholars, and visits to sites like Istanbul’s Hagia Sophia. This collection chronicles more than the events and personalities that left indelible marks on the landscape of faith, but also forces behind them. This panoramic journey through twenty centuries of belief and conflict covers everything from the crucifixion to the revolutionary changes of Vatican II.

This review is from: Christianity: The First Two Thousand Years (DVD)
This is not a critical analysis of any aspects of the Christian faith, it is merely an in-depth look at how Christianity developed through two thousand years. It is not extremely deep, it is not controversial, it is not inflammatory in any way. This one is geared toward a conventional Christian audience and they do a very good job of laying out an awful lot of history – as such, it gives just the basics of most elements, but, there’s a whole lot of ground to cover.

VERY long series but well worth watching. My only “complaint” if you will is that Ossie Davis’s voice overs are so smooth and peaceful (fantastic voice) that I kept nodding off even though I was very interested in the program! I watched these discs forty minutes to an hour at a time, and I had to go back and rewatch a lot of the parts because I kept falling asleep! Not boring, the guy’s just got a very soothing effect on you when you’ve had a long day at work!

Highly recommend this set, get it while you can in this affordable double disc set.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great movie!, June 13, 2011

I was able to see a free viewing of this movie thru LifeWay ministries through our local church. AMAZING MOVIE!!! Just like with FLYWHEEL, FACING THE GIANTS and FIREPROOF these brothers have made a movie that can change peoples lives. This movie is about fathers and their role in the family. What would happen if fathers actually connected with their wives and kids……what a diffrence they would make! I would reccommend this movie to everyone!!!!Comes out in theatres september 30th, 2011.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fatherhood theme via a Christian Faith-based dramatic backdrop, September 30, 2011
By Harold Wolf “Doc” (Wells, IN United States) – See all my reviews
(TOP 50 REVIEWER) This review is from: Courageous (DVD)
Expect in-your-face fatherhood morals bursting from an action/emotion story.
Expect the F-words: Faith, Fatherhood, Fears, Failings, Family, Forgiveness.
Expecting goodness, I entered the theater for the 1st opening day matinee. Found it great.
Sheriff Deputies know the necessity of partnership. They take it to heart by forming a small group of men, adding one ethnic carpenter outsider, and strive to make a difference in the lives of their families. They base their “Resolutions” vows upon the Bible. Unfortunately it takes some tragic circumstances to get the men to this point. Their courageous open faith position will not always be taken well…as Dep. Adam Mitchell (Alex Kendrick-Dir, Writer, Editor, Actor) states, “some will mock, some will have no resolve, others will say `I WILL’. Men of courage with God’s help.” He notes they will (and do) face conflict, challenge, controversy, & need courage. Each man has his own family issues, each an individual path of struggle.

A debate is sure to develop. Which is best, “Courageous” or “Fireproof” (2008); the last 2 films by the Kendrick brothers. I vote, equal. Alex does it all in this 4th Faith-based film adventure, while Stephen writes and produces. They also did “Flywheel” 2003; and “Facing the Giants” 2006. Is this film a moral and faith statement from the writers? YES! Of course! That’s what they and their church intend. Expect it, and perhaps be blessed.

This film begins immediately with ACTION, life-threatening, a crashing peak, and then an emotional end to the scene. Hold on to your hat, because you have almost 2 hours of emotion, action, and even some comedy ahead after that. Ken Bevel, as Hayes (Yes, from Fireproof) is new to this police squad. No big HOLLYWOOD stars in this low-budget film that relies on none of the typical theater gimmicks. This film, as in preceding Kendrick film successes, relies on spiritual subject matter, PG13 rating, and the targeting of the Christian Theater viewer, eager for BIGGER-FASTER-STRONGER, but also family and faith oriented. It’s worked for the Kendricks’ casts & crews in the past, it will work again. Expect “COURAGEOUS” in the theater for a few weeks, and then the DVD will be bought by those same viewers…and more.

Viewership will grow, word of mouth, father to father, mom to mom, pew to pew, family to family.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Christian Evangelistic/Action Film I’ve Seen, January 30, 2007
By S. Keeney –

This review is from: Billy Graham Presents: The Climb (DVD)
I’m giving this film 5 stars because it is in the limited offering “Christian” section; but I would give it 4 stars even stacked up against secular movies with a lot more money spent on production. This movie has everything; an unusual story, beautiful scenery, good acting, comedy, lots of action, heroism, sacrifice, character change and development, biblical values balanced by fairly realistic presentations of non-believers, a touch of racial and cultural tensions, and a clear presentation of the message of Jesus. The Christians show flaws and failings; the non-Christians aren’t stereotypes. It’s family-clean and doesn’t compromise to tell its story, but it tries to stay in touch with the sinful side of life as well.
The rockclimbing story is handled with high production values. As a beginning/intermediate climber, I didn’t see anything in the climbing that made me say, “Oh, come on!” Many scenes look authentic and provide thrills and frights. The interaction between the two main characters is believable.
This is just a really good Christian film, even if you know nothing about climbing. Buy it, enjoy it, use it for outreach. It might even inspire you to learn to climb :) (“He is my Rock and my high tower . . .)
Warning: be careful of showing this to young kids. It does have plenty of dangerous scenes, a fight, drinking, and a death. Great for teens, though.

God’s Farmer: The Angus Buchan Story

Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com
The growing genre of Christian cinema adds to its flock Faith Like Potatoes, based on the book of the same name about a real-life South African farmer named Angus Buchan. Buchan accepted Jesus at a moment of crisis and began experiencing miracles, ranging from sudden rain putting out a wildfire to reviving a woman struck by lightning. The movie follows Buchan (played by Frank Rautenbach, star of a South African soap opera) from his failed farm in Zambia to his rise as a lay evangelist, delivering a sermon in a massive South African stadium. He begins as a sullen, short-tempered man, quick to lash out at his wife (the lovely Jeanne Wilhelm) and the native Zulu workers on his struggling farm. But as his life takes on the purpose of spreading the Word, Buchan finds personal peace (though he also faces personal tragedies). Faith Like Potatoes is squarely aimed at Christian viewers; its straightforward take on Christianity is unlikely to persuade skeptics. Despite the intriguing and (for an American audience) exotic locale, the problems Buchan faces (overwork, an emotionally remote marriage) feel bland and generic. Though Buchan clearly disapproves of a snide British farmer’s colonialist contempt for the Zulus, the movie’s own attitude towards them is paternalistic at best. Still, despite baldly expository dialogue, Faith Like Potatoes does have a steady forward momentum to its story, and there’s little question that the right audience will find its message comforting and compelling. –Bret Fetzer

Left Behind – The Movie
Part conspiracy theory and part religious message, Left Behind (based on the first in a series of runaway bestsellers by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins) is a passable, occasionally compelling thriller that turns the rapture and the ascendance of the Antichrist into something resembling a Robert Ludlum espionage potboiler. The beginning, though, is pure Stephen King: as morose pilot Rayford Steele (Brad Johnson) steers his jet plane toward London, comely flight attendant Hattie Daniels (Chelsea Noble) informs him that a number of passengers have disappeared–at 37,000 feet, leaving their neatly pressed clothes behind. And they’re not the only ones who’ve gone missing. The mass disappearances throw the world into chaos, and the sinisterly compelling Nicolae Carpathia (Gordon Currie), head of the U.N., selflessly steps in to help broker peace among the world’s nations. But is he as good intentioned as he seems?
Turns out the appropriately named Mr. Carpathia is behind a plot to rule the world and control its food supply, and intrepid reporter Buck Williams (Kirk Cameron, better than you’d expect) is onto him–with a little help from some biblical prophecies. Suffering the problem that befalls most first installments in a series of books and movies, Left Behind busies itself with the task of introducing characters and setting up expository plot lines, and audiences may be frustrated by the lack of action–Rayford’s somewhat labored crisis of faith takes up a good chunk of the film. Still, it’s an intriguing premise that should satisfy fans of the novel and possibly pick up a few more converts along the way (be warned, though, this is a modestly budgeted film that looks more like a cable TV movie than the latest James Bond extravaganza). And, if like a fair number of the film’s characters, you can’t figure out that someone named “Nicolae Carpathia” is a bad guy, then, well, you need to bone up on your evil villains. –Mark Englehart

Left Behind II – Tribulation Force
Arguably the most interesting and compelling feature in the Left Behind trilogy, Left Behind II: Tribulation Force finds the series’ major characters–television journalist Buck Williams (Kirk Cameron), passenger jet captain Rayford Steele (Brad Johnson), his daughter Chloe (Janaya Stephens), and Pastor Bruce Barnes (Clarence Gilyard)–forming the core of a group dedicated to infiltrating and disrupting operations of the Anti-Christ, i.e., Nicolae Carpathia (a scary Gordon Currie), who has become leader of a world government. Meanwhile, humankind looks increasingly desolate and bleak, as the reality sinks in that hundreds of millions of people who suddenly vanished–including all the world’s children–in the last film are not coming back. Veteran television director Bill Corcoran makes much of his scant resources to paint an apocalyptic vision, and when the film gets to indulge in some nifty effects (a pair of fire-breathing prophets–literally), the result is powerful. Drama, relationships, character development, and performances are quite smooth and should appeal to Christian and non-Christian viewers alike. –Tom Keogh

Left Behind – World at War
Third in a series of films based on the bestselling novels by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins, Left Behind: World at War finds the post-Rapture Earth an even bleaker place than in the previous movies. As the Antichrist himself, Nicolae Carpathia (Gordon Currie), uses his newfound powers as head of the world government to bring war and plague on every nation, the American president (Louis Gossett Jr.) teams with a Christian resistance fighter (Jessica Steen) to try to stop him. Meanwhile, series hero Buck Williams (Kirk Cameron) discovers that Carpathia’s biological front in a coming apocalypse is particularly devious: Freshly published Bibles are carrying a deadly disease ravaging thousands–and may very likely claim Buck’s new bride. Buck’s father-in-law, pilot Rayford Steele (Brad Johnson), has problems of his own facing the not-inconsiderable temptations of former flight attendant Hattie Daniels (Chelsea Noble), now one of Carpathia’s many lovers. Directed by Craig R. Baxley (Rose Red), Left Behind: World at War is particularly crisp and effective drama, even when the action stops, as it often does, for many of the principals to pray for guidance. Charles Martin Smith (The Untouchables), not seen often enough these days, has a brief but powerful part as the U.S. vice-president. –Tom Keogh

Product Description
This collection includes: Left Behind: The Movie; Left Behind II: Tribulation Force; Left Behind: World At War; and the bonus disc of The Original Left Behind Documentary, based on the Book by Peter & Paul Lalonde. These classic thrillers star: Kirk Cameron, Lou Gossett, Jr., Chelsea Noble, Brad Johnson, and Clarence Gilyard.
